Unsuccessful French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) Presidential candidate Isabelle Lamour will not lodge an appeal over the result which saw Denis Masseglia declared the winner.

Masseglia won a third term as President of the CNOSF yesterday, although it appeared as though he may face an appeal over the result.

According to French media, Lamour, who is married to double Olympic fencing champion and former Sports Minister Jean-François Lamour, claimed she was unhappy with the "completely unacceptable conditions" in which the vote took place,.

She claimed Masseglia was allowed to speak to the Ordinary General Assembly before the count.

"We were told at the grand oral on April 25 that no one would speak again," she said.

"I wanted to tell you that, for my part, I will ask for an appeal with regard to the holding of this election excessively important."

Lamour's camp has now confirmed that no appeal will be filed.

"Our collective decision is that there will be no appeal,"former President of the French Sailing Federation Jean-Pierre Champion, a Lamour supporter, told the newspaper L'Equipe.

"We recognise the results of the vote, there is no question of embarking on this story."

Masseglia held off his two rivals – Lamour, President of the French Fencing Federation, and David Douillet, the double Olympic judo champion and former Sports Minister – to win on the first round of voting.

The 69-year-old secured 56 per cent of the vote against 39 per cent for Lamour and five per cent for Douillet.

When approached by insidethegames, the CNOSF also confirmed Lamour's decision not to appeal, adding they have "nothing else to say on the matter" as their focus shifts to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Evaluation Commission visit in the coming days.

French President-elect Emmanuel Macron is expected to meet members of the IOC Evaluation Commission immediately after his inauguration on Sunday (May 14).

It will be one of his first official acts as President following his victory over National Front leader Marine Le Pen in the run-off.

It will come on the first day of a three-day IOC inspection taking place until Tuesday (May 16).
