Canada's Anna Gasser led women's qualification at the International Ski Federation (FIS) Snowboard World Cup slopestyle event in Kreischberg today.

The 25-year-old, a silver medallist in the Austrian resort at the 2015 World Championships, finished 1.75 points ahead of Switzerland's Sina Candrian on 87.50.

Switzerland's Silje Norendal progressed in third place on 83.00 points.

"The conditions were extremely difficult, so I'm very relieved that I finished the final round," said Gasser.

"The second run was a safety run, so I decided to show more difficult tricks tomorrow."

Sweden's Niklas Mattsson and Great Britain's Jamie Nicholls were the top qualifiers in the corresponding men's event.

Mattsson scored 92.50 points to win heat one and Nicholls managed 93.00 in heat two.

United States' Ryan Stassel managed 91.75 points to post the third best score of the day.

Both the male and female finals are scheduled to take place tomorrow.

It came on a day of bad weather 1,500 kilometres to the south-west in Font Romeu.

This caused the cancellation of women's slopestyle qualifying at the FIS Freestyle World Cup event.

Both qualifying and finals are scheduled for tomorrow.
