Three-time Winter Olympian Emily Cook has been appointed as aerials C team coach by the United States Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA).

Cook, who competed at the 2006, 2010 and 2014 Winter Games, retired from competing at the end of the 2013-14 season.

She skied on the aerials circuit for more than 15 years, finishing on the podium at International Ski Federation (FIS) World Cup events on nine occasions.

She also competed in seven FIS World Championships.

Her best Olympic performance came in her swansong at Sochi 2014, where she finished eighth.

“I could not be more excited to rejoin the aerials team as the athletes prepare for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in South Korea,” said Cook, who has coached athletes at Fly Freestyle, a local club in Park City, since her retirement.

“I have prepared for many Olympic Games in my career, but I am especially excited to support the team for this one.

"I am completely blown away by the hard work and talent on this team and the impressive pipeline of development athletes we have.

"I was supported by this organisation for so long, and I am really looking forward to being a part of the amazing team that stands behind the athletes every day.”

Former Fly Freestyle coach Jack Boyczuk has also joined the USSA as assistant coach for the elite aerials development programme.

"Emily and Jack have a great knowledge of the sport and the ability to work with our athletes to bring them to the next level,” said USSA freestyle programme director Todd Schirman.

“Our aerials programme has seen a lot of success in the past few years and, with a strong coaching team in place, we expect that success to continue leading in to 2018 and beyond.”
