After breaking the 400m freestyle S13 on Thursday (August 7) Meyers, powered to victory today ahead of compatriot Colleen Young and Canada's Rhea Schmidt to break the record set by Canada's Valérie Grand'Maison at London 2012.

"I had a feeling that I was going to set the world record but when I touched the wall, I was very, very shocked," said Meyers who also holds the world records in 800m and 1500m freestyle and the 400m individual medley for her classification.

"It feels amazing to set two world records here.

"I am so grateful to be a part of Team USA and to have this opportunity to swim here and break these world records."

It was another golden day for the United States as no fewer than seven swimmers claimed gold medals to keep the home nation top of the overall medal table with 98 in total, including 27 gold.

Brad Snyder continued his successful return to international action by claiming wins number five and six with victory in the men's 200m individual medley S11 and the 100m backstroke S11.

Cody Bureau and Roy Perkins took wins in the men's 200m individual medley SM9 and SM5 races.

In the women's 200m individual medley events, multi-Paralympic and world champion Jessica Long was the dominant force in the SM8 race while Haley Beranbaum took the SM8 crown.

Beranbaum had to settle for second in the women's 50m backstroke S5 behind Alyssa Gialamas.

After failing to qualify for London 2012 and the 2013 World Championships, Tom Miazga returned to form in Pasadena with a gold medal in the men's 100m backstroke S8 event.

Miazga touched home in a time of 1:12.17 to overcome Argentina's Lucas Poggi and Mexican Luis Andrade.

"Today was awesome," said 22-year-old Miazga.

"It was just an honour for me to make the team after a couple hard years.

"I was excited just to get here, get the opportunity to race against other countries again.

"It's really humbling to come out and have a lifetime best, the best time that I've gone since the London trials.

"It's just really refreshing and relaxing.

"It's good to know that I'm back on track.

"I'm really happy."

North American neighbours Canada secured three gold medals on the day.

Nineteen-time Paralympic medallist Benoit Huot was the man in the 200m individual medley S10 while Adam Rahier and Gordie Michie swapped podium places in the S14 200m individual medley and 100m backstroke events.

Rahier took the win in the individual medley ahead of his team mate while Michie turned the tables in the backstroke.
