Fox broke the men's 50 metres freestyle S14 world record twice yesterday and he was at it again today in the 100m event.

The Australian touched home in 54.80sec in the morning heats to break the world mark and improved on that again on his way to claiming the gold medal in a time of 54.69 ahead of compatriot Mitchell Kilduff and Canada's Dalton Boon.

There was more gold medal success for Australia in the women's 4x100m 34 point relay as they took the win ahead of the US and Canada.

The US also had to make do with silver in the women's 4x50m 20 point medley relay and this time it was Brazil who took the win with Mexico in third.

But the home fans still had much to cheer as five more gold medals were secured by American swimmers.

Brad Snyder won his fourth title of the Championships, winning the men's 100m freestyle S11 ahead of Brazil's Matheus Souza and South African Hendrik Herbst.

The two-time Paralympic gold medallist did not have it all his own way, however, as he lost out to Japan's Keiichi Kimura in the 100m breaststroke.

Five-time Paralympian Curtis Lovejoy got the US gold medal train back on track by winning the men's 50m backstroke S2 ahead of Russian Ivan Konovalov, while Roy Perkins secured gold in the 50m backstroke S5 before picking up silver in the 100m freestyle.

"I've had a pretty good meet so far," Perkins said.

"The 50 back has been kind of a struggle for me over the years so it was nice to get a best time in that today.

"I was a little tired when it came to the 100 freestyle but it felt pretty good.

"No complaints."

Debutant Roderick Sewell announced his arrival on the international stage by putting in an impressive performance to take the men's 100m breaststroke SB6 ahead of Mexican Enrique Perez.

"I am surprised to win but at the same time, I did come into this with a lot of confidence," said Sewell.

"I was worried that I would not win gold or that I would not medal at all but I knew what could happen if I swam my best."

"I'm feeling blessed.

"This is my first international meet so to come here, and win gold, it's an honour.

"It's a true honour to be here with this gold medal around my neck."

On the women's side, Colleen Young powered to gold in the 100m back S13 ahead of team mate Martha Ruether.
