LawAccord 2012_13-03-12February 23 - SportAccord has announced that the LawAccord meeting at Québec City in May will be addressing the question of 'What is good governance in sport and why does it matter?'

LawAccord 2012 will take place on May 22 at the Hilton Hotel which adjoins to the Québec City Convention Centre where the SportAccord Convention will take place on May 20-25.

André Noël Chaker, the senior advisor to the President of the World Lotteries Association, Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) vice-president Michael Lenard and Marquette University Law School Professor of law Matthew Mitten have been confirmed as speakers for LawAccord.

"Good governance has become a central concern for sport, particularly given that the level of funds that some sports now handle may attract interest from criminal activities," said chair Stephen Townley.

"LawAccord will bring together world-renowned experts to examine and debate the issues around the role that good governance plays in helping sport meet expectations of confidence."

SportAccord is coming to Quebec this year after being in London in 2011, and will bring together over 100 international sports federations, as well as organising committees of major sports events and other key stakeholders.
