Nis HattJanuary 20 - SportAccord Convention has announced that Nis Hatt has been appointed as managing director, and will assume the new role on June 1.

Until the Swiss takes over, executive director Anna Hellman will be managing preparations for the 2012 SportAccord Convention in Québec City from May 20 until 25.

Hellman will be leaving SportAccord following the convention, her eighth since it began ten years ago.

"It is fitting that Anna will be completing her tenure by delivering the 10th anniversary edition of the event," said SportAccord Convention chairman Hein Verbruggen.

"Anna will continue in her current role through SportAccord Convention 2012 and Nis will be coming on board in the meantime to work alongside Anna and facilitate the knowledge transfer process.

"Preparations for the event in Québec City are going extremely well and this 10th anniversary edition will provide Nis with a fantastic introduction."

Hatt will work in conjunction with Hellman from February 1, joining after 14 years of service for leading pharmaceutical companies such as F.Hoffman-La Roche.

"SportAccord Convention has become established as the premier business gathering in the world of sport," he said.

"I am excited as well as honoured to be taking on the responsibility for continuing the high standard of excellence achieved over the years by Anna and the SportAccord Convention team and further develop new ways to support our stakeholders and their partners."
