The famous Château Frontenac is a national historic site of Canada and is within easy walking distance of the Québec City Convention Centre where SportAccord takes place next spring.

"The unique character of the city of Québec has encouraged us to hold our event next year in a convention centre rather than a hotel venue," said Anna Hellman, SportAccord Convention executive director.

"We will have the best of both worlds, with both abundant space and a sense of intimacy to encourage networking.

"The historic Château Frontenac is practically synonymous with Québec and makes a perfect complement to the Convention Centre, which is recognised as one of the very best in the world."

The 2012 convention is the tenth anniversary of the SportAccord Convention, which brings together representatives from over 100 international sports federations and organisations, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) executive board, as well as sponsors and cities bidding to host major sports events.

Top level conference sessions take place at SportAccord as well as a number of general meetings of various sport governing bodies.
