Australia's Logan Martin claimed the BMX spine ramp gold medal at the International Festival of Extreme Sports (FISE) series in Montpellier this evening.

The 23-year-old, who won the overall FISE world title in 2015, defeated Jose Gil Torres of Argentina and Daniel Dhers of Venezuela, who completed the top three.

Martin finished second in Montpellier last year and improved on that result by taking gold with a score of 96.00 points.

Gil took second place on 93.00 while Dhers completed the top three on 91.00.

There was also the final in the International Roller Sports Federation (FIRS) roller freestyle slopestyle World Cup today.

Julien Cudot led a French one-two with a score of 95.00.

Romain Godenaire came second with 92.00, while Joe Atkinson of Great Britain rounded out the top three with 90.00.

Tomorrow will see the first parkour competition under the International Gymnastics Federation's (FIG) control take place in the French city.

It will feature obstacle course competitions alongside parkour classes for spectators and visitors.

Earlier this month, the FIG gave its approval in principle for a new discipline in gymnastics based on obstacle course competitions.

However, since the announcement, the FIG has continued to face accusations of "encroachment and misappropriation" into the sport.

Last month, Parkour UK called for the signing of an Memorandum of Understanding, which would "formally acknowledge the recognised sovereignty of parkour/freerunning".

The London-based organisation also threatened to take the issue to the Court of Arbitration for Sport if an MoU was not established within 60 days of a formal meeting between Parkour UK and the FIG.

Earlier this month, the Australian Parkour Association also showed its support for the "encroachment and misappropriation" claims.

Professional parkour group APEX School of Movement ended its collaboration with the FIG, citing "a lot of conflicting information" that has surfaced.
