Sweden’s Emil Johansson held off the United States’ Nicholi Rogatkin to win the slopestyle mountain bike pro final at the International Festival of Extreme Sports (FISE) series in Montpellier today.

The 17-year-old scored 95.33 points to beat Rogatkin by a margin of 0.67.

France’s Mehdi Gani won a bronze medal for the hosts after finishing third with 93.33.

There was also semi-final action today in the International Roller Sports Federation (FIRS) roller freestyle slopestyle World Cup as Martin Barrau led a French one-two-three with 89.33.

Julien Cudot came second with 88.33, while Roman Abrate rounded out the top three with 87.66.

The final is scheduled for tomorrow when competition is set to continue.

The event in Montpellier is due to feature the first parkour competition under the International Gymnastics Federation's (FIG) control on Sunday (May 28).

Serving as a model for a proposed urban cluster at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and future Games, the 2017 FISE includes several other competitions, notably BMX freestyle, boulder climbing and roller skating.

Representatives from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will be present to observe the new trends in view of Tokyo 2020.

Last month, Parkour UK accused the FIG of "encroachment and misappropriation" and called for the signing of an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which would "formally acknowledge the recognised sovereignty of parkour/freerunning".

The London-based organisation also threatened to take the issue to the Court of Arbitration for Sport if an MoU was not established within 60 days of a formal meeting between Parkour UK and the FIG.

Earlier this month, the Australian Parkour Association showed its support for the "encroachment and misappropriation" claims.
