Jun Wang broke a second world record in as many days at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Beijing, where hosts China continue to exert their dominance.

The 26-year-old, who set a women’s javelin F35 world record yesterday, registered a global mark of 31.92 metres with her second throw in the women’s discus F35.

It added 50 centimetres to the previous record set by Ukrainian Mariia Pomazan four years ago.

Wang also secured victory today in the shot put F35/36 thanks to her throw of 12.10m at the China Administration of Sports for Persons with Disabilities’ outdoor facilities.

Another world record was broken in the discus F36 by China’s Cuiqing Li, whose best throw of 42.96m added 78cm onto the mark set by Germany’s Sebastian Dietz at the 2013 World Championships in French city Lyon.

A number of China’s reigning Paralympic champions excelled in the field.

Five-time Paralympic gold medallist Na Mi finished more than one metre clear of her rivals as she took gold in the shot put F37 after a best throw of 12.29m in the morning session.

She then added discus F37 gold in the afternoon with a second-round effort of 32.15m.

Results went to form in the women’s shot put F54 as reigning world and Paralympic champion Liwan Yang claimed top spot with a best effort of 7.60m.

Paralympic and world champion Liangmin Zhang triumphed in the women’s discus F11 with 34.25m having won the shot put F11/12 earlier in the day courtesy of her second-round effort of 10.66m.

Reigning Paralympic champion Guoshan Wu won the men’s shot put F57 with 13.55m, while multiple Paralympic and world champion Juan Yao won the women’s discus F44 with 38.32m.

The host nation did not have it all their own way, however, with Bahrain’s Fatema Nedham among the visitors who clinched gold.

The 50-year-old, who became the first female representing Bahrain to win a medal at the Paralympic Games when she won shot put F53 gold at Rio 2016, threw 4.68m in the shot put F34/53.

Japan’s Hajimu Ashida picked up the win in the men’s long jump T47 with 6.68m, beating reigning world champion Fuliang Liu of China by 7cm.

Action on the track, meanwhile, was dominated by the 100m sprints.

Paralympic and world champion Jianwen Hu comfortably won the men’s T38 in 11.70sec, while Paralympic 400m champion Qichao Sun prevailed in the T12 event in 11.64.

Paralympic silver medallist Yifei Yang won the T36 race in 12.66 and six-time Paralympic gold medallist Hongzhuan Zhou won the women’s T34/53 in 17.30.

After winning the 200m T35/36 on day one, T35 Paralympic champion Xia Zhou had to settle for second place in the shorter sprint in 15.41 as T36 Paralympic champion Yiting Shi clinched gold in 14.81.

In the visually impaired sprints, Guohua Zhou won the women’s 100m T11 race in 12.32 and Dongdong Di won the men’s equivalent in 11.53.

Reigning world champions Chengming Liu and Lihong Zou were among the 800m winners, crossing the line first in the men’s and women’s T54 races respectively with times of 1:36.06 and 1:52.74.

Competition in Beijing is due to conclude tomorrow.

The seventh Grand Prix of the 2017 season is scheduled to take place in France’s capital Paris on May 30 and 31.
