Former Guatemalan Football Association President Brayan Jiménez has been banned for life by FIFA's Ethics Committee.

Jiménez, also a former member of FIFA's Committee for Fair Play and Social Responsibility, pleaded guilty to one count of racketeering conspiracy and two counts of wire fraud conspiracy at a Federal Court in New York City on July 29 last year.

His plea related to two schemes which saw him ask for and accept bribes from sports marketing companies.

He received the cash in exchange for the awarding of marketing rights for World Cup qualifiers in the Central American Football Union (UNCAF) region.

He also agreed for Guatemala to play in UNCAF region friendlies.

The adjudicatory chamber of the Ethics Committee opened proceedings against Jiménez in February.

He was first probed by the investigatory chamber for alleged breaches of FIFA rules on general rules of conduct, loyalty, duty of disclosure, cooperation and reporting, conflicts of interest and bribery and corruption.

Jiménez has yet to be sentenced after his guilty plea in the US.

He led the Guatemalan governing body from 2009 to 2015.

Dozens of football officials have been indicted in the US as part of a widespread criminal investigation.

It largely centres on a total of $200 million (£162 million/€192 million) in alleged bribes and kickbacks, which were allegedly solicited and received by various football officials concerning marketing and broadcast rights.

American authorities say the money was funneled through the country using US banks.

Last week, FIFA submitted reports consisting of more than 1,300 pages, alongside 20,000 exhibits, to the Swiss Attorney General.

This came at the conclusion of their 22-month internal investigation into alleged corruption within football's world governing body.
