France celebrate after winning the Clermont-Ferrand leg of the 3x3 Women's Series ©FIBA

France made home advantage count to win the International Basketball Federation 3x3 Women’s Series event in Clermont-Ferrand courtesy of a dramatic victory over Lithuania.

Hortense Limouzin proved to be the match-winner as she outpaced everyone to lay the ball in with less than 30 seconds remaining as France defeated Lithuania 21-20 at the Clermont-Ferrand Sports Hall.

Lithuania got off to the stronger start, taking a 3-1 lead before France forged ahead.

Marie Mané and Laetitia Guapo were the key players for France as they combined for 17 points in the victory.

France held a seven-point lead at one stage, but Lithuania refused to go down without a fight as Kamile Nacickaite rattled in 13 points.

The last of Nacickaite’s points saw Lithuania draw level at 20-20 with just 35 seconds left before Limouzin struck.

China won the first two 3x3 Women’s Series events but a victory over Switzerland was all they were able to muster in the Clermont-Ferrand leg.

Despite their poor performance in France, China continue lead the overall standings on 250 points.

Spain had a leg to remember as they defeated China and Sc. Yuanda before losing to eventual-winners France in a semi-final overtime thriller.

The next event in the 3x3 Women's Series is set to be staged in Shusha in Azerbaijan from tomorrow until Monday (June 12).
