King and Nigma Galaxy were crowned as champions at the Girl Gamer World Finals, a major esports event for only female players.

The Finals were held at Isa Sports City in Bahrain and attracted teams from all over the world who came through regional qualifiers.

Two games were contested - League of Legends and CS:GO.

In League of Legends, South Korean team King came out on top after beating G2 Esports in the final.

Nigma Galaxy won the CS:GO title after victory over Black Dragons from Brazil.

It is hoped the event will help promote women in esports as it is traditionally a male-dominated industry.

Bahrain Olympic Committee President Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa was among those to attend the Opening Ceremony.

Girl Gamer had previously signed a deal with the International Esports Federation which saw an inaugural women's CS:GO tournament played at last year's World Championships in Indonesia.

The Finals in Bahrain offered a prize pool of $30,000 (£25,000/€28,000).

As well as the action, discussions on women in esports took place.
