Former Olympic champion Wellinger triumphed in the men's competition on the Trambulina normal hill, recording jumps of 94.0 metres and 99.0m to score 116.6 and 123.8 points respectively for a total of 240.4.

That earned him a second victory from three World Cup events after his large hill success in Lake Placid.

Compatriot Markus Eisenbichler led at the halfway stage with 119.2 from a 95.5m jump, but slipped to fourth on 236.9 with 117.7 from 93.0m on his second effort.

Ziga Jelar of Slovenia narrowly fell short of a first win of the season, scoring 240.2.

He earned 112.0 from a 91.5m jump in the first round, then was the top performer in the second with 128.2 from 98.5m.

Germany's Karl Geiger placed third with 237.9 from jumps of 95.5m and 93.0m.

Several of the top performers on this season's World Cup including leader Halvor Egner Granerud of Norway did not compete in the final event before the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Planica, scheduled from February 21 to March 5.

Strøm secured her third victory of the season in the women's event, with only one round of competition held because of strong shifting winds.

Her 84.0m jump translated to 98.1 points.

Season leader Eva Pinkelnig of Austria finished second for the third consecutive World Cup event with 97.1 from an 86.5m jump, and her compatriot Julia Mühlbacher secured a first podium finish with an 83.0m jump for 95.7 points.

Yesterday's winner in Râșnov Katharina Althaus of Austria placed 22^nd with a 72.5m effort, scoring 67.5.

Pinkelnig moved onto 1,482 points for the season, extending her lead over Althaus who has 1,202.

Strøm is third on 1,030.

A men's super team competition is due to be held on the normal hill tomorrow.
