Oliver Bridge moved into the lead at the 2018 Formula Kite European Championships in Germany.

The British athlete triumphed in the only race possible today in the gold fleet in Warnemuende, a seaside resort and a district of Rostock.

It saw him move onto a net total of eight points for the Championships, having won eight of the nine races he has competed in.

His only other score is a discarded 10th place.

Guy Bridge, Oliver’s brother, has moved into second place in the standings after finishing second today.

He has 10 points overall for the competition.

Overnight leader Axel Mazella has dropped to third, having finished in ninth place in today’s race.

The Frenchman now has 16 points.

United States’ Daniela Moroz leads the women’s standings on six points, with Russia’s Elena Kalinina lying second on 12.

A lack of wind made further racing impossible today.

"We are giving up for today," the International Kiteboarding Association race control tweeted.

"One gold fleet race and no wind at all for the rest of the day.

"Skippers meeting tomorrow at 9am for 10am warning."

Racing should continue tomorrow.
