Racing was cancelled today at the 2018 Formula Kite European Championships in Germany.

The International Kiteboarding Association race control announced the cancellation, the result of bad weather in Warnemuende, a seaside resort and a district of Rostock.

"No more racing today - only gusts with squalls and risk of thunderstorms," they tweeted.

"Gold/silver/bronze from tomorrow, splits will be published later on.

"Skippers meeting 10am."

France's Axel Mazella currently leads the men's event.

Mazella won six of the seven races he competed in yesterday, and was also second once - a result which is currently discarded.

The Frenchman also won the only race held on Monday (July 9) amid strong winds.

In the women's event, American Daniela Moroz has a perfect record after clinching six more wins yesterday to add to her opening success on Monday.

Competition is due to resume tomorrow.
