Germany and Switzerland both qualified two pairs for the main draw of the International Volleyball Federation Beach World Tour event in Doha today.

Two rounds of qualification matches were held with duos triumphing twice booking their place in the group stage of the four-star men's tournament, which begins tomorrow.

Markus Böckermann and Lars Flüggen were among the German success as they beat England's Chris Gregory and Jack Sheaf 21-15, 21-18 in their round two match in Qatar's capital.

They were joined in going through by compatriots Philipp Arne Bergmann and Yannick Harms who saw off France's Maxime Thiercy and Arnaud Gauthier-Rat 24-22, 21-19.

Swiss joy came courtesy of Nico Beeler and Marco Krattiger who proved too strong for Estonia's Kusti Nõlvak and Mart Tiisaar, winning 21-19, 21-18.

Adrian Heidrich and Mirco Gerson then followed their team-mates through as they ended the hopes of another German pair, Julius Thole and Clemens Wickler, with a 21-12, 21-15 win.

Matches are being held at the at the Katara Cultural Village in Doha.

Top ranked pairings have advanced straight to the pool stage, and include Americans Nick Lucena and Phil Dalhausser.

They will play after winning their home tournament in Fort Lauderdale last week. 

There is no women's event in Doha.
