Ukraine, Portugal and Azerbaijan secured places in the quarter-finals on day four of the UEFA Futsal Championship at Arena Stožice in Ljubljana.

Two-time competition silver medallists Ukraine came from 2-0 down against Romania in their Group C match to secure a dramatic 3-2 victory thanks to Petro Shoturma's last-gasp winner just seconds before the final whistle at the Slovenian venue.

This result confirmed Ukraine's spot in the last eight whilst it also meant Portugal qualified for the next round with Romania now unable to catch them.

Azerbaijan qualified for the quarter-finals with a 5-3 victory over tournament debutants France.

Bolinha was the star man for Azerbaijan as he netted a hat-trick for his side on their way to victory, despite being an injury doubt before the game.

France now need Spain to lose by 5-3 or more to go through to the next round.

Today also saw matches in Group C and Group D of the Asian Futsal Championship get underway.

Eleven-time champions Iran got their title defence off to the perfect start with a 14-0 victory over Myanmar at the University of Taipei Gymnasium in Chinese Taipei, whilst Iraq recovered from 2-0 down to secure a 4-2 win against China.

Thailand, who won the bronze medal at the 2016 edition of the tournament, beat Jordan 5-1 to move top of Group D.

Kyrgyzstan and Lebanon could only play out a 2-2 draw in their match, meaning both will be under pressure when they face group favourites Thailand later on in the tournament.

It could even be a matter of who gets off lightest against Thailand to see who qualifies from the group.

Action continues in both tournaments tomorrow.
