The top eight men’s teams discovered their quarter-final opponents at the 2017 World Flying Disc Federation World Championships of Beach Ultimate as the pool stage concluded today in Royan.

The United States rounded off their superb Pool A campaign by beating Spain 13-12, recording their 10th straight victory.

A 13-9 win over Switzerland saw Canada seal second spot in the standings, with Russia and Spain earning the final two play-off spots from the 11 team pool.

Competing in the 12-team Pool B, The Philippines have proved themselves as one of the teams to beat after 11 straight successes.

Their latest victory came against New Zealand by a 13-4 score.

Hosts France finished in second place with nine wins and two defeats, with Britain and Australia clinching quarter-final berths with eight wins and three losses.

The US will take on Australia in the first quarter-final, while Russia face the challenge of France.

Canada and Britain will also clash, before Spain seek to end The Philippines’ 100 per cent record.

Russia and the US remain unbeaten in the women’s competition, following up their 100 per cent records in the initial pool phase with two wins in the top power pool.

They will both meet tomorrow, as the teams aim to secure an easier draw for the quarter-finals.

Britain and Spain lost both their power pool matches but will seek to end on a high tomorrow.
