Sportel leaves Miami for Buenos Aires to return to South America

The gateway to the sports business in the Americas is leaving Miami after years of success and moving to Buenos Aires to host the International Sports Cover, which will be held in the Argentine capital on 14-15 May 2024.

The Sportel 2024 season is in full swing and for the first time it will be held in a Spanish-speaking country such as Argentina. The Sportel Rendez-vous dedicated to the Americas is moving to its new destination, Buenos Aires.

After several successful editions in Miami, United States, Sportel returns to South America and will land for the first time at the Hilton Buenos Aires Hotel, in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, from 14-15 May 2024.

This exciting relocation of the Americas event will take place in the vibrant "Capital Gaucha", a revered place as a centre of football and sports culture, also famous for its abundance of sporting talent and athletic excellence, including football, basketball, rugby, boxing and hockey.

Buenos Aires has surpassed even the renowned cities of New York and Miami as the leading conference destination in the Americas. Argentina was also a pioneer in the cable television industry, achieving the highest coverage in the Americas. It also has a high level of content production distributed throughout the continent, making it the best location to follow in Miami's footsteps.

The event will kick off on Monday 13th May with an unforgettable Opening Party, sponsored by Bet Warrior and 1190 Sports, at one of the most iconic venues in Buenos Aires, the Argentine Polo Club, where the Argentine Polo Open, featuring the world's best specialists, is usually held.

Sportel Rendez-vous Buenos Aires will serve as an important bridge for the global sports technology and media industry, facilitating the exchange of experiences, best practices and innovations between the Americas and the Sportel community.

"We are very excited about the arrival of SPORTEL America in our country, having an international quality event in Argentina and for the first time in a Spanish speaking country will bring a lot of prestige to the industry," said Jorge Strika, CEO of J&S Entertainment Group.

"These types of events help to strengthen and expand the development of the sports industry in our continent, generating new business opportunities," added Daniel Tamborini, CEO of Lions Sports & Media.

"This is a unique opportunity to open up the South American market, where the potential for is enormous. This event will provide new opportunities to network, meet and do business with sports broadcasting and technology executives from Argentina and beyond, in preparation for the sports tournaments that the region will host in the coming years," said Laurent Puons, CEO of Monaco Mediax.

"Developing the American market as a whole is one of our priorities. South America represents only 5% of sports participation. The potential for development is huge. We are excited to offer our community new networking and business opportunities with top industry executives in Buenos Aires, a global sports capital and a focal point of this thriving market," added Puons.

Sportel has teamed up with valuable partners with a proven track record, such as J&S ENTERTAINMENT, represented by Jorge Strika and Sebastian Ibarrondo, Lions Sports & Media, represented by Daniel Tamborini and Martín Rey, and ProEnter, represented by Javier Schmidt and Diego Avila. Bamboo Business, represented by Marta Ortega, which has a long history of marketing similar events.
