The Organising Committees of the 2nd Central American and Caribbean Beach Games, Puntarenas 2025, to be held in Costa Rica, and the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games, Santo Domingo 2026, to be held in the Dominican Republic, presented their respective reports to the Executive Committee.

Last weekend, representatives of the Organising Committees of the 2nd Central American and Caribbean Beach Games, Puntarenas 2025, to be held in Costa Rica, and the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games, Santo Domingo 2026, to be held in the Dominican Republic, met virtually.

During the meeting, which was attended by all the members of the Executive Bureau of the regional sports organisation, which celebrates its centenary this year, the Executive Committee was presented with their respective reports. The meeting, which lasted just over two hours, was also attended by representatives of the Caribbean Association of National Olympic Committees (CANOC), which Luis Mejía Oviedo and Keith Joseph, presidents of both regional sports bodies, described as "important, valuable and beneficial for the countries of the Caribbean region".

The Honorary President of Centro Caribe Sports, Steve Stoute, who reported on the memorial service held in memory of Judy Simons, former Executive Director of that organisation and former President of the Bermuda Olympic Association, attended the meeting where a message from President Luis Mejía Oviedo was read.

President Mejía highlighted during the executive session that work is underway to celebrate the centenary of the organisation, which is expected to take place before the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

During the Puntarenas 2025 report, Alexander Zamora, president of the Costa Rican Olympic Committee, explained that the local body will also act as the organising committee for the Games.

Fanny Huezo, a member of the delegation to the 2nd Central American and Caribbean Beach Games, presented the report, which included the proposed date for the regional beach sports event, as well as the possible sports and venues for the sporting events.

With regard to the Santo Domingo 2026 Games, Felipe Vicini, liaison between the Organising Committee of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games, Santo Domingo 2026, and the Executive Committee of the Organisation, gave a detailed report on the activities of the Local Organising Committee, including the announcement of the logo and the start date for the renovation of the 2026 venues.

In addition, the official report on the dates of the Games, presented by José P. Monegro, President of the Organising Committee, and Luis Mejía Oviedo, stated, among other things, that the Games will be held from 24 July to 8 August 2026.

Keith Joseph, President of CANOC, accompanied by several members of this sports organisation, thanked Centro Caribe Sports for the invitation to this meeting, where the sports leader discussed various points, including an exchange of cooperation between the organisations.

This meeting is part of Centro Caribe Sports' policy of involving CANOC and the Central American Sports Organisation (ORDECA) as working arms, since the member countries of both organisations are also part of Centro Caribe Sports. However, Luis Mejía and Keith Joseph agreed that these organisations could jointly manage some working committees.

Joseph also raised the issue of the 2025 Caribbean Games and requested the inclusion of cricket for the 2026 Games in Santo Domingo, a sport that will return to the Olympic Games at the 2028 edition in Los Angeles.

With regard to the democratic life of the organisation, CANOC members expressed their desire that the organisation should value the equal voting rights of all its members and not continue with the current format where countries that have hosted the Central American and Caribbean Games have double voting rights, in a voting format shared with Panam Sports.
