The New Zealand Olympic Committee (NZOC) has appointed Olympian and former hockey player Ryan Archibald as the team services director.

The Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games silver medallist will start in his new role on November 27.

He will lead the organisations campaign planning and delivery for NZOC for Olympic and Commonwealth Games teams.

NZOC chief executive Nicki Nicol believes Archibald "will bring an athlete lens" to decision making.

"Ryan brought his impressive commercial and sport background to the application process and was a standout candidate," Nicol said.

"He is also committed to growing our team culture, which he has experienced as an athlete.

"We look forward to Ryan keeping up our positive operational momentum as we build towards the Paris 2024 Olympic Games."
