Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce members have been receiving advice on how to become more involved with the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games at their annual networking event.

LA28 vice-president of impact Erikk Aldridge revealed some of the opportunities open to businesses in the area as the Chamber launched its "Get in the Game" programme during the OneLA Procurement Fair held at the Los Angeles Trade Technical College.

"During the next 10 years the Los Angeles region will host international sporting and entertainment events including the 2026 World Cup, 2028 Olympics and Paralympic Games resulting in significant investments in our infrastructure and a great opportunity for suppliers," Chamber President Maria Salinas said.

"This is a pivotal moment for Los Angeles to make transformational change in the economic opportunity available to the diverse small businesses that call Los Angeles home."

The scheme is intended "convene small businesses with industry leaders to encourage participation and preparation for contracting opportunities."

Chamber officials claim "Get in the Game" programme will "provide small businesses with technical assistance, capital funding, best-in-class sourcing practices, and a series of procurement fairs."

The Chamber plans to schedule more fairs to help connect small business suppliers with public and private sector buyers, including "organisers of mega events and infrastructure projects" which are likely to include 2026 FIFA World Cup and 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
