World Netball have begun their search for a successor to Clare Briegal who is stepping down as chief executive after ten years in the job.

"This is an outstanding opportunity for the right candidate to lead the netball family globally at an exciting time for the sport," a World Netball statement said.

"Women’s sport is in the midst of unprecedented growth and netball, one of the trailblazers for women, is well positioned to capitalise on this opportunity."

The new chief executive will be expected to support World Netball’s vision to provide "a sport that is open to all and inspires netballers to embrace opportunities and achieve their potential" and its mission "to expand netball’s worldwide reach and impact, building on our unique female-focused foundations."

They will also have worked "in multi-cultural, multi geographical settings and with volunteers."

During her tenure, Briegal had overseen three World Cup tournaments and the organisation's change of name from the International Netball Federation to World Netball in June 2021 as part of a re-branding process.

World Netball has appointed recruitment agency SRI to handle the search for her successor.
