The Slovenian star thrilled the home crowd with her performance as she gained revenge over Japan’s world lead champion Ai Mori.

Mori defeated Garnbret at last year’s event in Koper but she came up short on this occasion as the home favourite delivered gold.

Garnbret was in pole position after the qualifying rounds and produced the goods today as she became the only climber to reach the top.

Mori had to settle for silver after reaching 44+, while Vita Lukan ensured Slovenia had two athletes on the podium after making 40+ for bronze.

Japanese teenage sensation Sorato Anraku underlined his burgeoning talent by capturing the men’s lead title.

The 16-year-old won his first IFSC World Cup gold in Innsbruck in June before triumphing again in Briançon a month later and there was no stopping him in Koper either.

A superb performance saw Anraku reach the top to seal another impressive victory.

Jesse Grupper of the United States made 42+ for silver, while the bronze medal went to reigning Olympic champion Alberto Ginés López of Spain who finished on 23.

Britain’s Toby Roberts and Germany’s Alexander Megos just missed out on a medal after making 21+.
