Indonesian Taekwondo Association (PTBI) executive Anthony Siregar is looking for the organisation to provide better training for its athletes, referees, and coaches to build on recent success.

Muhammad Rizky's silver medal at the Asian Youth Para Games in Bahrain gave Indonesia a chance to win more tournaments at future events according to Siregar.

Para taekwondo is contested at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Para Games, the Asian Para Games, and the Paralympic Games.

"This is a big opportunity for us, especially since we won silver at the Asian Youth Championships in Bahrain," Siregar said, as reported by The Jakarta Post.

"Taekwondo championships on the national stage are planned to be held for the first time at the Para Games in North Sumatra next year, along with the 2024 National Sports Week in North Sumatra and Aceh."

Last month, the PTBI held its first training camp for Para taekwondo referees in Yogyakarta.

The event was attended by 150 professional officials from 20 provinces across Indonesia.

Siregar claims that the programme would lead to more national and regional championships being held by the PBTI.

Rizky's silver in Bahrain came in the men's K44 under-70-kilograms tournament which saw him lose to Uzbekistan's Aslbek Khusanova in the final.
