World Taekwondo has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Korea Taekwondo Association, the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation, the Jeollabuk-do Province and the County of Muju "to strengthen operations for the World Taekwondo Central Training Centre."

A signing ceremony was held in the Muju Taekwondowon as it staged the 2023 World Taekwondo Grand Prix Challenge.

World Taekwondo President Chungwon Choue represented the International Federation and committed it preparing a programme for the Centre, recruiting participants, and supporting operations in connection with its regional training institutions.

The other involved organisations also vowed to make mutual efforts to help the Centre's operations.

The Korea Taekwondo Association is due to support national athletes and coaches to interact with their peers through the participation of joint training programmes.

Administrative and financial support is set to be provided to the Centre by the Jeollabuk-do.

The MoU will be in effect from today and marks the first development of the Centre since a sign-hanging ceremony took place in May 2016.

The Centre is also due to oversee activities in the other 12 World Taekwondo Regional Training Centres which are operational in 10 different countries.

China, Uzbekistan, Germany, Britain, Nepal, Croatia, Italy, Iran, Azerbaijan, and Saudi Arabia are home to these facilities.
