Britain's judo squad have visited the Lycée René Auffray school in Clichy, which is due to be training base for Team GB in the build-up to next year's Olympic Games in Paris.

The training camp, one of a number planned by Team GB, is set host more than 200 British Olympic athletes before Paris 2024.

A group of 11 of British judoka, including Tokyo 2020 bronze medallist Chelsie Giles and 2022 European champion Gemma Howell.

They were joined by Lele Nairne, Kelly Petersen-Pollard, Amy Platten, Natalie Powell, Emma Reid, Lucy Renshall, Nekoda Smythe-Davis, Acelya Toprak and Jemima Yeats-Brown.

They all took part in an engagement session with over 180 students and staff from the school in Clichy, a commune in the suburbs of Paris on the River Seine, only four miles from the centre of Paris.

The session featured a live demonstration and coaching for the pupils and faculty attending.

The school's principal Sylvain Dedieu was also in attendance.

"This time of exchange with the British judoka was a great opportunity for the students," Dedieu said.

"They had the chance to practice judo, to discuss with the athletes, to share a moment around this sport and the Olympic values.

"I think this will remain engraved in their memory."

Cedric Ane, Municipal Counsellor of Clichy for Olympics and Paralympics and Paralympics Paris 2024, was pleased to have the British team visit.

It was "unforgettable" for the participants involved, Ane said.

"We want to show Team GB and British people their athletes will feel at home in Clichy, they already have supporters here now," Ane added.
