Santiago 2023 has signed an agreement with the Chilean Army for the use of its venues in the Pan American and Parapan American Games.

The signing took place in the central hall of the Military School with Gianna Cunazza, the Santiago 2023 executive director, in attendance.

Accordingly the modern pentathlon competition will take place at the Military School in Las Condes, shooting and Para shooting will be held at the Pudahuel Polygon and equestrian sports will be staged by the Grenadier Regiment Riding School in Quillota.

The commander of the Army Engineers Division, Brigadier General Guido Frávega, said: "We had several coordination meetings with the organisation of the Games, which made its requirements and based on our capabilities, we reached an agreement and complied with what was requested.

"We hope that with the delivery of these lands the expectations that as a country have been encrypted for this sports festival will be met."

Cunazza aded: "Athletes and members of the Armed Forces have things in common. 

"They share the spirit of discipline, the need to develop excellence in planning, and the importance of cultivating trust in the team. 

"In addition, the sports that summon us have given great victories for Chile."

The military officers of the competition venues were also present at the ceremony, the director of the Military School Colonel Fernando Silva, the director of the National Defence Sports Confederation (Cofeden) and the Lo Aguirre Polygon, Colonel Nelson Cabezas, and the Commander of the Presidential Escort Regiment No. 1 "Grenaderos", Colonel Nicolás Díaz. 

The Santiago 2023 Pan American and Parapan American Games will be held from October 20 to November 26, bringing together nearly 9,000 athletes in four regions - Metropolitan, Valparaíso, O'Higgins and Biobío.
