The integration of intelligent technology into the Asian Games Village is progressing well, the Hangzhou 2022 Organising Committee has said following an inspection.

Deputy secretary general of the Organising Committee Chen Weiqiang led a team that visited the Village on Wednesday (January 4) and approved the work to install the technology.

Work on phase one of the Cloud Asian Games Village project started in September 2022 when the Asian Games Operation Team were given the green light to start work on the site.

Among the technology already installed is an Asian Games Village One Code Pass for anyone staying at the site, allowing them to make arrangements relating to food, accommodation and other services by mobile phone.

Among the work still being undertaken is the installation of intelligent scene applications into the Asian Games Village, covering online consultation, translation and an electronic guide to the site.

The Asian Games Village is the largest non-competition venue of Hangzhou 2022, scheduled to be held from September 23 to October 8.

The Games have been delayed by a year due to the coronavirus pandemic, and are expected to attract high numbers of visitors from overseas.

China today reopened its borders to international visitors for the first time since it imposed travel restrictions in March 2020.

The move means incoming visitors will no longer be required to quarantine, but they will still require proof of a negative polymerase chain reaction test taken within 48 hours of travelling, as reported by BBC News.

Since March 2020, China has had some of the world’s strictest coronavirus restrictions although these have been relaxed, in response to mass protests across the country.
