Mao Genhong, deputy secretary general of the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games Organising Committee, has claimed that the event is ready to go ahead.

Mao's declaration comes well in advance of the scheduled dates of September 23 to October 8 2023.

The event was initially set to take place from September 10 to 25 this year but due to China's COVID-19 policies it was postponed.

"In term of preparatory works, hardware facilities or software operations, we are quite ready," said Mao during the fifth edition of the China International Import Expo in Shanghai.

"We have completed almost everything related to the Games, including the programme setting, venue construction, team building and operational arrangements."

Mao, who is also the vice secretary-general of the Hangzhou Government, claimed the extra year to prepare for the Games has provided the organisers with the opportunity to enhance the quality of the event.

"Our goal is to host the most successful Asian Games in history," he said.

"We will launch a series of landmark projects related to 'intelligent' games and welcome the event with our best form."

Hangzhou 2022 has its own themed pavilion at the Expo as the Organising Committee aims to promote the Asian Games.

The pavilion is jointly established by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games Organising Committee.

It focuses on displaying the aesthetics of the Asian Games such as mascots, emblems, slogans, core graphics and colour systems, as well as songs and licensed products.
