Teams from 18 countries are due to contest the International University Sports Federation (FISU) University World Cup 3×3 Basketball in Istanbul.

The Turkish University Sports Federation (TUSF) stepped in the when COVID-19 restrictions made it impossible for Xiamen in China to hold the event.

A FISU University World Cup 3×3 Basketball has not been held since 2019, when Brazil's Paulista University won the men's title.

A Paulista team came through Americas qualifying to reach this year's tournament and will be seeking to defend the title.

Chinese teams are absent, so Tsinghua University cannot defend the women's title.

Three days of action is set to start tomorrow.
