Brazil won two gold medals in the judo competition at the South American Games in Asunción, Paraguay.

In the men’s under-100 kilograms category Brazil’s Gabriel Dezani Arevalo overcame Antonio Jose Rodriguez Rengel of Venezuela.

The women’s over +78kg category was won by Giovanni Melo Dos Santos of Brazil, who triumphed against Amarantha Aurora Urdaneta Duarte of Venezuela.

The men’s over +100kg was won by Ecuador’s Freddy Miguel Figueroa Ortiz, who beat Luis Mauricio Amezquita Urqueola of Venezuela.

The men’s under-81kg category was won by Agustin Nicolas Gil of Argentina, who defeated Jorge Daniel Perez Alvarez of Chile.

Peru’s Roberto Yata Galaretta Villar won the men’s under-90kg category, overcoming Mariano Coto Bersier of Argentina.

Celinda Jamileth Corozo Ramirez of Ecuador won the women’s under-70kg category, overcoming Millena Ribeiro Da Silva of Brazil.

Finally, in the women’s under-78kg category, Elvismar Nicanor Rodriguez Ruiz of Venezuela, defeated Beatriz Furtado Petri De Freitas of Brazil.

In the men’s football final hosts Paraguay took gold by beating Ecuador 1-0, thanks to a goal from Allan Wlk.

Bronze went to Colombia, who beat Uruguay 2-1, with Kevin Andres Mantilla Camargo netting the winner in extra-time.

In rhythmic gymnastics competition, Brazil claimed a one-two in the women’s individual ribbon, with gold going to Barbara De Kassia Godoy Domingos with 29.850 points.

Geovanna Santos Da Silva took silver in 29.250, with bronze going to Celeste Abril Darcangelo of Argentina with a score of 27.300.

Godoy Domingos doubled up in the individual clubs category, taking gold with 30.200 points.

Silver went to Sol Andrea Martinez Fainberg of Argentina with 30.150, with bronze going the way of Geovanna Santos Da Silva with 29.200.

In shooting finals, Brazil claimed a one-two in the men’s 25 metres rapid fire pistol with Emerson Duarte taking gold with 22 points, from Felipe Almeida Wu, in silver on 21.

In the men’s 50m rifle three positions final, Alexis Exequiel Eberhardt of Argentina claimed gold with a 16-8 win over Leonardo Vagner Do Nascimento Moreira of Brazil.

In canoe sprint finals, Argentina were the dominant nation, winning five titles, in the women’s K1 500 metres, the men’s and women’s K2 500m and the men’s and women’s K4 500m races.

Brazil continue to lead the medal table in the multi-sport event, having passed the 100 golds mark, with competition running until Saturday (October 15).
