Anna Gasser has been named Austria's Sportswoman of the Year for the third time after defending her women's big air snowboard title at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.

The Pyeongchang 2018 champion notched a cab double cork 1260 on her final run in the Chinese capital to take the gold.

She also finished second on the International Ski and Snowboard Federation Snowboard Park and Pipe World Cup overall rankings, finishing as runner-up at three events before triumphing at the Silvaplana slopestyle season finale.

The 31-year-old was presented with the Niki trophy as the winner of the award at the Lotterien Sporthilfe Gala in Vienna.

Gasser is fourth on the all-time World Cup rankings for women's freestyle snowboarders with 21 podium finishes.

"When I started snowboarding I could have never imagined that I would even be considered to be nominated for the Women's Athlete of the Year award," she wrote on Instagram.

"Now, being handed over this title for the third time, leaves me just speechless.

"This means so much for me and for snowboarding, so thank you to everyone who helped and supported me over the years.

"I also really want to congratulate all the other nominees.

"Austria is a country with so many great athletes who would deserved this just as much."

Gasser's gold was one of seven for Austria at Beijing 2022, but her country's only triumph in women's competition.
