Three-time world champions Brazil cruised to a 3-0 win over Qatar before defending champions Poland beat the United States 3-1 at the 2022 Men's Volleyball World Championship in Ljubljana.

In a Pool B fixture, Resende Gualberto Flavio bagged 10 points for the South American giants as they registered a 25-13, 25-23, 26-24 win over the Gulf nation.

Meanwhile, Poland did not have the best starts as they lost the first set 23-25 against the Americans.

However, skipper Kurek Bartosz led from the front as they bagged the next three sets 25-21, 25-19, 25-21 to seal the victory.

In the second Pool B match, Japan triumphed against Cuba 3-1.

After winning the first set 25-18, Cuba came back with a 25-21 win to make it 1-1.

But with 19 points, Nishida Yuji helped inspired his side to a crucial victory by taking the next two sets 25-15, 25-19.

It was France who came out on top in their Pool D fixture against Cameroon.

The Europeans won 25-19, 25-19, 25-22 with Tokyo 2020 gold medallist Stéphen Boyer recording a 19-point haul.

Mexico and Bulgaria played out a thriller with the former winning 3-2.

After losing the first set 20-25, Mexico took the next two 25-20, 25-23 before Bulgaria won the fourth one 25-23.

In the decider, Mexico edged their rivals 18-16 with González Castañeda Diego scoring an impressive 33 points in the fixture.

Slovenia then registered an easy 3-0 win over Germany.

Štern Tonček and Čebulj Klemen scored 15 points to help Slovenia win in straight sets 25-16, 25-22, 25-17.
