Paraguay and Chile boosted their hopes of reaching the semi-finals of the Copa América Femenina in Colombia, claiming wins against Bolivia and Ecuador respectively.

Both of today's group A matches were held at the Estadio Olímpico Pascual Guerrero in Cali, with Paraguay winning the first 2-0 against Bolivia.

Ramona Martinez opened the scoring from close range after being picked out by Fabiola Sandoval 10 minutes into the match.

Paraguay dominated possession, but came up against a Bolivian goalkeeper in inspired form as Alba Salazar made 10 saves throughout the match.

However, Martinez turned provider on 71 minutes to set up Rebeca Fernández, who clinched three points for her team.

Paraguay have won both matches since their opening defeat to Colombia, and are now second in the group, level with the host nation on six points but having played a game more.

Chile bounced back from their loss to Paraguay in their opener by beating Ecuador 2-1 for their first win of the tournament.

The deadlock was broken when an inswinging corner by Francisca Lara of Chile caused problems for Ecuador - she almost scored directly, but Camila Sáez was able to provide the telling touch after a goalline clearance.

Ecuador had chances to level, notably when Christiane Endler saved well from Nayely Bolaños.

Substitute Yenny Acuña doubled Chile's lead on 76 minutes, but Marthina Aguirre halved the deficit two minutes later.

However, Chile held on to move above their opponents into third placed based on the teams' head-to-head record.

The top two sides in both groups advance to the semi-finals, with both third-place teams entering the playoff for fifth.

The top three ranked sides at the end of the tournament qualify for next year's FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, while those placed fourth and fifth enter the inter-confederation playoffs.

The Copa América Femenina is set to continue tomorrow, with Argentina playing Uruguay and Peru facing Venezuela in Group B.

In the penultimate round of Group A fixtures on Sunday (July 17), Chile play Bolivia and Ecuador take on Colombia.
