Three of Turkey's four boxers progressed from their round-of-32 matches on the third day of the International Boxing Association (IBA) Women's World Boxing Championships at the Başakşehir Youth and Sports Facility here in Istanbul.

Büşra Işıldar rounded off the night with a victory in the under-75 kilograms category, beating Kazakhstan's Nadezhda Ryabets by unanimous decision to set up a bout against Brazil's Viviane Pereira.

Perhaps the most impressive was Gizem Özer, who looked ferocious in the under-63kg tournament, also winning unanimously, against Shinetsetseg Uranbileg of Mongolia.

Beyza Saraçoğlu was able to do similar against Dominican Republic Olympian Miguelina Hernandez to progress in the under-52kg.

However, it would not be a clean sweep on the day for the hosts as Esra Özyol was denied a second victory of the World Championships, losing to Namuun Monkhor of Mongolia by a unanimous decision in the under-57kg.

Venezuela's Johana Gomez qualified in the same weight category, a boxer who has publicly stated she would love to move to Edinburgh in Scotland after meeting a coach online who she hopes to work with and turn professional.

The Gomez campaign started well, with a 3-2 split-decision victory over the Democratic Republic of Congo's Matshu Marcelat Sakobi, but the scenes after the tight win are what will live in the memory.

Sakobi dramatically dropped to the floor, frustrated with the verdict, and was eventually taken out of the ring by her coaches after some persuasion.

One of the more convincing wins of the day belonged to England's Charley Davison in an under-52kg bout against Beata Dudek from Hungary.

Davison won unanimously.

Davison's compatriot Kerry Davis snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in the final bout tonight against Saweety of India, taking a 3-2 split decision in the under-75kg.

Ukraine's Tetiana Kob wowed all of the judges in her under-52kg match against Ann Wanjiru Maithori of Kenya, winning unanimously and celebrating by performing the splits.

Indian Parveen boxed Ukrainian Mariia Bova into a corner on her way to victory in the under-63kg, while Chinese Taipei's Lin Yu-ting was impressive in her second under-57kg match, this time beating Tajikistan's Mijgona Samadova unanimously.

Lin is a former world champion.

Finally, Mozambique got a first victory of this year's World Championships after Rady Gramane won by unanimous decision against Pornnipa Chutee of Thailand in the under-75kg.
