Britain's Andy Murray lost 7-6 (11-9), 6-3 in his second-round match against Kazakhstan's Alexander Bublik at Indian Wells Masters.

Murray, who won the previous two already fixtures against Bublik at Wimbledon and Rotterdam respectively, started well and managed to put his opponent under pressure, but lost four break point opportunities and a titanic tiebreak.

Among women, British number one Emma Raducanu was beaten in three sets 6-7 (3-7), 6-4, 7-5 by Croatia's Petra Martic in the third round.

Raducanu has now a few days off before heading to Miami for the WTA 100 event.

British Harriet Dart defeated Estonia's Kaia Kanepi 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 to reach the fourth round.

Simona Halep of Romania defeated birthday girl Coco Gauff of US 6-3, 6-4 to advance to the pre-quarterfinals.

"I think I played smart tonight because from one side you had to play different, from the other side a little bit different," she said.

"So I think I managed very well all the moments."

German Angelique Kerber, who was wearing a Ukrainian ribbon, beat Russian Daria Kasatkina 6-2, 6-1 in just over an hour. 

Kerber will meet Poland's Iga Natalia Świątek in the fourth round of the Indian Wells.
