The United States and Belgium earned two gold medals on the second day of Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships in Baku.

Victoria Blante, Eily Corbett, and Cassidy Cu clinched victory for the US in the women’s group balance event at the National Gymnastics Arena.

The trio triumphed with a score of 28.100 points to add gold to their combined event bronze medal.

Combined event winners Kim Bergmans, Lise de Meyst and Bo Hollebosch of Belgium were second on 27.710, followed by Austria’s Larissa Hoefler, Paula Pfurtscheller and Hanna Paic on 26.910.

The US also celebrated gold in the men’s pair dynamic competition, with Angel Felix and Braiden McDougall scoring 28.180 points as they took advantage of a competition lacking the usual Russian squad after they were banned by the International Gymnastics Federation following the invasion of Ukraine.

On only four occasions since this event began in 1974 - then known as the World Sports Acrobatic Championships - has the medal table not been topped by either the Soviet Union or Russia.

Felix and McDougall will hope to complete a hat-trick of victories tomorrow in the balance event, having already secured combined gold.

Kazakhstan’s Daniyel Dil and Vadim Shulyar were the silver medallists on 28.030 points, followed by the home pairing of Daniel Abbasov and Murad Rafiyev on 27.500.

Simon de Wever, Jonas Raus, Viktor Vermeire and Wannes Vlaeminck were the winners of the men’s group balance competition.

The Belgian team were crowned champions on a score of 29.290 points, with Britain’s Archie Gooneskera, Bradley Gold, Finlay Gray, and Andrew Morris-Hunt second on 29.080.

Israel’s Hen Banuz, Lior Borodin, Amir Daus and Tomer Offir won the bronze on 28.060 points.

Belgium’s second gold medal came in the mixed pair dynamic event, with Bram Roettger and Helena Heijens finish top of the standings on 29.280 points.

Azerbaijan’s Raziya Seyidli and Aghasif Rahimov were the silver medallists on 28.640 points, followed by Britain’s Natasha Hutchinson and Dylan Howells on 28.440.

The final title of the day was earned by Rita Ferreira and Ana Teixeira, with the Portuguese duo adding to their combined title in the women’s balance pair event.

Ferreira and Teixeira earned a dominant victory on 28.850 points, ending clear of America's Katherine Borcherding and Cierra McKown on 27.350.

Kazakhstan’s Alexandra Rudakova and Damira Talgat won the bronze medals on 27.050 points.

Five titles are due to be earned on the final day of the World Championships tomorrow.
