Athletes competing in the International Ski Federation (FIS) Snowboard Cross World Cup will return to the mountain ranges of Reiteralm tomorrow.

The seventh leg of the snowboard cross circuit will take place in the Crosspark Reiteralm in the Austrian town of Schladming.

The men’s and women’s qualifying matches are scheduled to go ahead simultaneously tomorrow with the World Cup finals due to follow on Saturday (March 12).

Dominating the eight-leg circuit so far are Germany’s Martin Nörl and Austria’s Beijing 2022 Olympic gold medallist Alessandro Hämmerle.

Hämmerle took the first two wins on the circuit and came runner-up last time out in Cortina d'Ampezzo, while Nörl has won the last three races.

Hämmerle took the first two wins on the circuit and came runner-up last time out in Cortina d'Ampezzo, while Nörl has won the last three races.

Austria’s Jakob Dusek clinched top of the podium in the third leg in Cervinia.

This has left Nörl first in the standings on 386 points, Hämmerle in second on 366 points and Dusek in third on 284 points.

In the women's competition, Italy's Michela Moioli triumphed last year in Reiteralm and will hope to do so again this time around as she is currently third in the overall World Cup standings with 376 points.

The World Cup standings are currently led by Britain's Charlotte Bankes, and despite not medalling in Beijing, she has had a good World Cup season so far with three wins, and knows another strong showing could tighten her grip on the Crystal Globe.

Bankes currently has 469 points in the World Cup standings, with France's Chloe Trespeuch in second on 390.

Trespeuch won silver in the snowboard cross in Beijing, and will look to improve on a record of three second-placed finishes in the World Cup so far.

Time trial qualifications are due to take place tomorrow, with finals scheduled for Saturday (March 12).
