Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion Jean Quiquampoix of France won gold in the sole individual final on the penultimate day of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup in Cairo.

In the men’s 25 metres rapid fire pistol event, the last Olympic category scheduled to be contested at the World Cup, Quiquampoix won gold with a score of 21.

Silver went to Ruslan Lunev of Azerbaijan with a score of 17, with third place to Martin Strnad of the Czech Republic with a score of 15 and fourth to Christian Reitz of Germany, with a score of 13.

Today’s action also featured medal matches in two team events, with Norway triumphing in the mixed team 50m rifle three positions.

The Norwegian pairing of Jenny Stene and Jon-Hermann Hegg won 16-8 against Germany’s team of Jolyn Beer and Maximilian Dallinger.

Bronze went to India’s Shriyanka Sadangi and Akhil Sheoran, who ran out 16-10 winners against Austria’s pair of Rebecca Koeck and Gernot Rumpler.

The second team final decided today was the women’s 25m pistol, with India’s Rahi Sarnobat, Rhythm Sangwan and Esha Singh victorious 17-13 against Singapore’s Shun Xie Teo, Xiu Hong The and Nicole Chiao Ling Tan in the gold-medal match.

Bronze went to Chinese Taipei’s team of Chia Ying Wu, Ai Wen Yu and Chia Chen Tien, who defeated Japan’s Yukari Konishi, Chizuru Sasaki and Satoko Yamada 17-15.

The final day of competition tomorrow is scheduled to see the conclusion of the men’s team and mixed team 25m rapid fire pistol events.
