Spaniard Cardona Coll, a silver medallist in the men's sprint race at last year's World Championships in Comapedrosa in Andorra, clinched the biggest victory of his career to date.

He crossed the finish line in Spain in 3min 17.988sec to triumph over 974 metres.

Nicolò Ernesto Canclini of Italy was second in 3:23.712, while another Spanish athlete in Iñigo Martinez de Albornoz rounded off the podium in 3:27.190, beating Italy's Nadir Maguet to the bronze medal.

The women's sprint World Championship silver medallist also came out on top in Boí Taüll as Jagerčíková finished in 3:11.279.

Sweden's Tove Alexandersson took silver with a time of 3:12.313, with France's Emily Harrop third in 3:15.725.

Tatjana Paller of Germany in fourth was almost five seconds off the podium.

The under-20 and under-18 sprint competitions were held earlier in the day.

French athletes triumphed in the youngest age bracket, with Norick Polchi taking the men's title and Louise Trincaz the women's.

In the under-20s, it was the Swiss Youth Olympic champions who achieved success, with Caroline Ulrich earning gold on the women's side and Thomas Bussard on the men's.

Paller was crowned senior women's champion, while Austria's Daniel Zugg secured the men's senior title.

The ISMF European Championships are set to continue tomorrow with the vertical races.
