Juan Gómez opened the scoring for Paraguay and they twice had a two-goal advantage, but Rafael Morillo scored a hat-trick for Venezuela as the visitors refused to go away.

Via a Hugo Martínez brace and Francisco Martínez goal, Paraguay were able to secure 4-3 win at Asunción's SND Arena.

Group B's other match also finished 4-3, this time in favour of Bolivia and after the lead twice chased hands.

Bolivia raced into a 2-0 lead, but Peru flipped the match on is head with three goals in eight minutes.

However, Bolivia kept their heads, levelled the score and then won it through José Herrera two minutes from time.

Colombia made it two wins from two in Group A, thrashing Uruguay 4-0.

Chile did the opposite and have now lost both of their matches after succumbing to a 4-2 defeat versus Ecuador.
