Spain demolished Georgia to win Group D at UEFA Futsal Euro 2022, while Russia kept its 100 per cent record intact the group stage came to a close in The Netherlands.

There were eight different scorers, including two own goals, as 2018 runners-up Spain beat Georgia 8-0 in Groningen's MartiniPlaza.

Spain were relentlessly testing the Georgian defence straight from kick-off and the unit eventually crumbled in the ninth minute when Raúl Campos split the defence with a magnificent pass to Borja, who duly finished to open the scoring.

The Spanish were ruthless as goals flew in from Sergio Lozano, Chino, Solano, Cecilio Morales and Adolfo.

Georgia were top of Group D going into the match and had already qualified for the quarter-finals, but were leapfrogged by their opponents and have to settle for second place.

The result means they will play Russia in the quarter-finals.

Russia, who won bronze at the last tournament, powered past Poland 5-1 in Amsterdam's Ziggo Dome to finish on top of Group C.

"We started a bit nervously," said Russian forward Anton Sokolov.

"I think this was due to the Polish fans in the stands - they really had loud support.

"But of course there were Russian fans too and I am very thankful to them.

"It was difficult for us in the first half although I feel we let them do too much.

"After the interval we did better - I think our half-time talk helped us."

Slovakia held off a Croatian comeback to win 5-3 at the same venue and secure their advance.

Slovakia were 5-1 up before two goals in as many minutes made for a nervy finish for Marián Berky's men.

Azerbaijan beat Bosnia and Herzegovina 4-2 in Group C in what turned out to be a dead rubber.

Azerbaijan needed Spain to lose to stand any chance of progressing to the knockout rounds.

The tournament is taking a one-day break before the quarter-finals get underway, with Kazakhstan playing Ukraine and defending champions Portugal taking on Finland.
