Elana Meyers Taylor of the United States stretched her lead in the Women’s Monobob World Series standings with an impressive victory in Winterberg.

The American racer cruised to her third success of the season with record-setting start and finish times on the German track.

She registered a new Winterberg start record with 5.78sec, beating the previous mark of 5.83 set by German Lisa Buckwitz eight days ago.

Powering down the track, Meyers Taylor then crossed the finish line in 58.88, another track record, besting the previous mark by 0.64.

"I might be the only one, but I love this track," Meyers Taylor said.

"I’m super excited to get this win.

"I went out and tried my best, and while there’s always something to improve, I feel really good about today."

Breeana Walker of Australia was the leader after the first run but finished 0.23 behind Taylor after the second as she had to settle for silver.

Third place went to Cynthia Appiah of Canada, who celebrated her second podium in a row after second place in Altenberg.

While Taylor came out on top in Winterberg, South Korea’s Kim Yoo-ran triumphed in the other Women’s Monobob World Series event taking place this weekend in Latvian town Sigulda

Kim was the quickest sledder in both runs as she posted a time of 54.58 before going even faster in the next in 54.93.

Slovakia's Viktória Čerňanská was just 0.02 behind Kim after a first run of 54.60.

She went quicker in the second run in 54.93 but it was still not enough to overcome Kim who responded superbly to the pressure.

Romania’s Georgeta Popescu claimed the bronze medal with runs of 55.26 and 55.43, as Poland’s Linda Weiszewski missed out on a podium place despite posting the third quickest second run time.
