At an event held in Marriott Mena House in Cairo, the Egyptian regional partner of Bridgestone, Nile Projects & Trading Co, committed to providing financial and logistical support for athletes in preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympics, while also commemorating those who competed in Tokyo.

Bridgestone is a member of the International Olympic Committee's flagship The Olympic Partner programme and a top-tier Paralympic sponsor.

It claims to supporting National Olympic Committee activities and promote the principles of the Olympic Charter, such as social responsibility, diversity and awareness of climate change.

Besides providing financial support, Bridgestone and Nile Projects & Trading Co will provide equipment and training facilities for Egyptian athletes, as well as supporting holistic approaches to aid athletes' mental health and morale.

Speaking at the ceremony, Bridgestone regional managing director Stefano Sanchini said: "Warmest congratulations to all the Egyptian athletes for their achievements at the Tokyo Olympics and we extend our support and wishes to all the athletes preparing for the upcoming World Championships and Paris Olympics.

Egpyt sent 132 athletes to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. 

The country won one gold, one silver and four bronze medals.

Feryal Abdelaziz became the first female Egyptian Olympic gold medallist, winning the under-61 kilograms kumite division in karate, a sport that made its Olympic debut at the Games.
