Rogério Caboclo has been suspended as Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) President for 21 months amid an investigation into claims of sexual harassment.

Caboclo, elected to lead the CBF in 2019, has been stripped of the Presidency until March 2023, a month before his term is due to expire.

The 48-year-old, suspended following a vote at the CBF General Assembly, is under investigation by Rio de Janeiro state prosecutors.

He had first been removed from the position in June by the CBF's Ethics Committee after a former secretary formally made allegations of sexual harassment against him.

Two other women have since come forward and made similar accusations.

Among the claims against Caboclo are that he forced the former CBF employee to eat a dog biscuit.

Ednaldo Rodrigues, one of Caboclo's deputies, has taken interim charge of the CBF following his suspension.

"All the 27 voters who head state federations had access to the whole content of the case against Caboclo," Rodrigues said.

"Those who had doubts on how to vote were fully convinced that the crime of harassment took place.

"Every violence must be tackled, especially against women.

"This can no longer happen in our house."

One of Caboclo's last acts as head of the CBF was persuading Brazil's President Jair Bolsonaro to step in to host the controversial Copa América.

It is the latest scandal for the CBF, which has seen several of its former Presidents disgraced for corruption and other offences.

Ricardo Teixeira, Marco Polo del Nero and Jose Maria Marin - sentenced to four years in prison in December 2017 - have all been implicated in the widespread FIFA corruption scandal.
