British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) student-athletes will be able to purchase new, co-branded merchandise after the organisation struck a five-year deal with sports brand New Balance.

A range of items - including hoodies, t-shirts, shorts, leggings and kitbags - are set to be on sale from the end of October.

BUCS joins the England and Wales Cricket Board, The Hundred and the National Basketball Association (NBA) in partnering with New Balance, which is headquartered in Boston in the United States.

The New Balance Teamsports division is also becoming the headline partner of BUCS Big Wednesday - one of the biggest events on the British university sport calendar which 54 finals in 15 sports played on the same day.

"We are excited to be partnering with a brand that is world renowned for their high-performance sportswear," BUCS chief executive Vince Mayne said.

"As we enter the most anticipated season to date, the excitement to return to BUCS sport is at an all-time high, and we are looking forward to the New Balance collection being a part of that.

"The chance to identify as a BUCS athlete through our sportswear collection is a unique opportunity that brings a certain level of prestige, as students start or continue their own university sport experience."
