Top seed Nino Batsiashvili of Georgia claimed her second win in as many games at the European Individual Women's Chess Championship in Iasi in Romania, defeating Bulgarian teenager and 35th seed Gergana Peycheva.

She is now the only one of four Georgian contenders still undefeated after their two games.

This comes after third seeded compatriot Lela Javakhishvili tied today against Polish 40th seed Alicja Sliwicka.

Following draws yesterday, their fellow Georgians second seed Bela Khotenashvili and seventh seed Meri Arabidze, claimed victories over 72nd seed Elisabeth Hapala of Austria and 69th seed Marina Makropoulou of Greece respectively.

Joining Batsiashvili on two wins is fourth seed Gunay Mammadzada of Azerbaijan who won against Monica Calzetta Ruiz, the 39th seed from Spain.

Russian eighth seed Olga Girya won her second game today too, defeating 43rd seed Oliwia Kiolbasa of Poland, and 10th seed Iuljia Osmak of Ukraine is on the same record following a victory over 47th seed Mai Narva of Estonia.

Many of the top contenders continued to stumble today, including fifth seed Anastasia Bodnaruk of Ukraine who drew with Bulgarian 42nd seed Gabriela Antova.

Ninth seed Olga Badelka of Belarus drew too against 44th seed Govhar Beydullayeva of Azerbaijan.

Israeli sixth seed Marsel Efroimski suffered defeat against German 41st seed Josefine Heinemann, which has dropped her down the order.
